Composite bonding or teeth whitening?

Whitening lightens the shade of your natural teeth for €270 to €416 at a Cork dentist. Bonding changes their shape for €150 to €700 a tooth. If you want both, whiten first: bonding resin doesn't whiten.

Doing both: the order matters

Whiten first, then bond. Winning Smile in Carrigaline whitens with home trays over two weeks, then stops for at least a week before the bonding appointment so the dentist can match the resin to the new shade (Winning Smile). Whiten after bonding and the bonding won't change with your teeth.

Questions

Questions people ask

Should I get whitening or bonding?

Whitening changes the shade of your natural teeth. Bonding changes their shape: chips, gaps and edges. If you want both, whiten first, because bonding resin keeps the shade it was made in.

Can you whiten composite bonding?

No. The resin used for bonding does not respond to whitening the way natural teeth do (Winning Smile). If you whiten after bonding, your teeth get lighter and the bonding stays the same.

How long before bonding should I stop whitening?

Winning Smile has patients whiten at home with trays for two weeks and stop at least one week before the bonding appointment, so the shade can be matched properly (Winning Smile).

Which costs less in Cork?

Whitening from a Cork dentist costs €270 to €416 for the whole mouth. Bonding is priced per tooth: €150 to €700, so six teeth come to about €1,200 at the middle starting price.
