How this is worked out

We take every Cork clinic that publishes a per-tooth price, then use the middle (median) of their lowest prices and the middle of their highest prices, times the number of teeth. Where a clinic gives one price, that price counts as both. Edge bonding uses the 2 clinics that price it separately. It is an estimate from published prices, not a quote: your dentist sets the price after looking at your teeth.

What moves the price

How much of the tooth is covered. White Smile Dental prices it in three steps: €150 for incisal edge bonding, €200 for partial bonding and €250 for full composite bonding (White Smile Dental). Smiles by Grace in Glanmire lists edge bonding at €180 against €220 to €300 for a full-layer composite veneer (Smiles by Grace).

The clinic, more than the area. All four Dental Care Ireland practices in Cork list a "composite veneer", and the figure runs from €175 to €350 in Douglas to €700 a tooth in Mayfield. Inside Cork city alone, published prices start anywhere from €150 to €700.

Bonding or composite veneer. Clinics use the two names for overlapping work. Winning Smile describes composite veneers as covering the whole front surface of the tooth, sometimes with a little enamel removed, against bonding for smaller repairs (Winning Smile). Ask which one your quote is for.

Lower-priced composite bonding in Cork

The five lowest published starting prices are €150 at Ballincollig Dental Practice (East Gate, Ballincollig), €150 at White Smile Dental Cork (Camden Quay, Cork city), €150 at Winning Smile (Carrigaline), €175 at Dental Care Ireland Douglas (East Douglas Street, Douglas), €200 at Cork Dental Smiles (St Patrick's Hill, Cork city). Two cautions: a range's lowest figure is the smallest job the clinic does, and a clinic can only confirm your price once a dentist has seen your teeth.

Paying for it

Revenue gives tax relief at 20% on non-routine dental treatment, and its list includes "veneers or Rembrandt type etched fillings" (Revenue). The dentist fills in a Med 2 after treatment. Cork clinics differ on whether they issue one for composite work, so ask before you book.
