Teeth whitening in Cork

Teeth whitening from a Cork dentist costs €270 to €416, going by 11 clinics' own price lists. The middle price is €300.

Teeth whitening and teeth bleaching are the same treatment. In Ireland, gels strong enough to change the shade (more than 0.1% and up to 6% hydrogen peroxide) can only be supplied by a dentist, who must supervise the first use (HPRA).

The rules on whitening in Ireland

  • Up to 0.1% hydrogen peroxide: can be sold straight to you (toothpastes, strips and pens sold in shops).
  • Over 0.1% and up to 6%: only a registered dentist can supply it, and the dentist does the first use of each cycle.
  • Over 6%: banned in the EU.

Those limits come from the HPRA and Statutory Instrument 396 of 2012 (Dental Council). The HPRA warns that strong products sold online can cause chemical burns to the gums, sensitivity and damage to fillings.

Whitening and bonding

Whiten first. Bonding resin keeps the shade it was made in, so clinics whiten your natural teeth and then match the bonding (Winning Smile). Bonding or whitening explains the order.

Questions

Questions people ask

How much is teeth whitening in Cork?

Cork dentists list whitening at €270 to €416, with a middle price of €300 (11 published prices, checked 3 November 2026). Cork Dental Smiles also lists in-chair Pola light whitening at €250, with a scale and polish.

Does whitening have to be done by a dentist?

For anything stronger than 0.1% hydrogen peroxide, yes. Products with more than 0.1% and up to 6% can't be sold directly to you: a registered dentist must supply them and supervise the first use. Above 6% is banned in the EU (HPRA).

Can under-18s get their teeth whitened?

No. Whitening products with more than 0.1% hydrogen peroxide must not be used on anyone under 18 (Dental Council), and the HPRA says whitening products should not be used on under-18s at all (HPRA).

Will whitening change the colour of my bonding?

No. Bonding resin does not respond to whitening, so whiten first and have the bonding matched to your new shade (Winning Smile).
